When are we going to start living life for more than the hustle? As a recovering lawyer and passion driven entrepreneur, Katie knew something had to change. What she found is that you can have harmony, be intentionally productive and create massive impact, all at the same time - without feeling guilty. So she asked herself a simple question: "How can I get off the hamster wheel and how can I show others how to do the same? She knew she'd had a system for herself, but she’d never put it into defining words. On August 15, 2019, she sat down at her dining room table with her friend Jenna (her business bestie). Post-It notes covering the table. This is where she first defined the concept of Intentional Margins. What are Intentional Margins? INTENTIONAL MARGINS™ (n): A buffer of space and time to create harmony between your to-do’s and your priorities. Now you can get the support you need to manage your overwhelm, one little tip at a time. Regardless of the industry, Everyday Happiness blends inspiration with a pragmatic approach to finding Harmony. Hey there. You're listening to Everyday Happiness with Katie Jefcoat. But as you all know now by now, I've taken over this week. My name is Jenna Edwards, and today I've been asked by Katie to talk to you about what I do that brings me happiness.
What's my big thing? And if you listen to the episode yesterday, I talked about finding what works for you and the biggest thing that works for me is going to sound so silly to some of you, but that's okay because it works for me and… it is surrounding myself with the color yellow.
It's so funny because I got a new job a couple of years ago and I was determined to not be known for wearing the color yellow every day because sometimes it can be really limiting. But, all of a sudden my coworkers were like, one day I didn't wear yellow and they're like, where's the yellow?
And I was like, oh gosh, I do have other colors in my wardrobe. But then I realized like, it's something that not only makes me happy, but the people around me.
So I always wear yellow. If you see me and I'm not in yellow, don't worry, but it's probably not a great day, potentially. Anyway, I discovered that years ago, when I went through a really dark phase. As you all heard during my intro interview with Katie.
I went through something really traumatic, really dark, and I started to intentionally surround myself with things that made me happy. And the color yellow just started to be the beacon of light that I needed to break through that darkness in my head. And, it stuck.
And so now I literally, I mean, if you saw me right now, my curtains are yellow, I'm wearing a yellow sweater, there's yellow on my glass, like it's yellow. That is how I bring happiness into my life.
